About the "??"
I am still playing around with the database and trying to eliminate these marks. They do not indicate that the tool aligns with the category. They indicate that the value of the field is "unknown" -- contains no data. To link tools with the categories of instructional strategies, the fields have been marked with a value of 1. If anyone knows of a more effective way of doing this to eliminate the "??" (which are confusing), please share your ideas here.
Yes -- I don't really understand the ?? either -- They are confusing -- How about marking the alignment with an A? Coolcatteacher 01:04, 21 March 2008 (UTC)coolcatteacher
-- The ?? shouldn't be happening. In a regular database, leaving a field blank would simply result in nothing showing up in that field. The reverse is happening here. The fields that appear blank actually hold a value of "1". Wierd. I am going to contact the developer of the database extension to see if he knows how to make this work better. Viewing unnecessary columns
The developer of the WikiDB extension has not included a feature for turning off certain columns from view. Until he updates his code to include this, we will just have to cope with having those fields "in view" on all pages.
Categories and General Feedback I don't see the key for the categories -- this page is confusing. I also think the name of the file should be the link - is that possible? It is a little confusing for me -- I think before we add a lot of information to the wiki, we should all be happy w/ the tables you're using. Coolcatteacher 01:06, 21 March 2008 (UTC)coolcatteacher
-- Good suggestion. I'll add a key to help. I'm still learning how to use the extension that creates the database for this, so I'll see what I can do to tweak it. Stephanie 01:26:46 Friday March 21, 2008 (UTC)
Writely? I thought Writely was the online word processor that was eventually picked up by Google, and now exists as Google Docs. Am I remembering this wrong? The link listed here doesn't seem to go anywhere. Rick 04:33, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
- Rick: Good catch. You are correct, Writely was picked up by Google and is no longer an independent product. Stephanie 2:43 Monday, March 24, 2008 (UTC)
Also--I was going to add MediaWiki to this list. So, I tried to edit the page, and I don't see where to actually edit the table on here. Just curious. Rick 04:39, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
-- This page is just showing output from the actual database. Go to [Table:Tools] to see the page to edit. I will put instructions on the "Talk" page. Stephanie 2:43 Monday, March 24, 2008 (UTC)
- I'd recommend adding Buzzword.com to your Masterlist of Tools. Great online word processing tool.
